Reflection for Biology Practical Lesson

On the 12 July 2017, Wednesday, we went to Biology Lab to conduct our practical experiment as we did not complete the practical the previous lesson and Mr Wong suggested a make up lesson. When we arrived there, we started off by listening to Mr Wong and he demonstrated the experiments and gave several instructions. We collected our goggles and several equipment and started on our experiments. When we started cleaning our workspace as the time given was up, two of our classmates broke a test tube each due to carelessness. From this, I learnt that every single resource provided by our school is extremely precious. The school pays for these equipments to create opportunities for us to learn and practice experiments. Hence, we should appreciate all these and not waste any of it. Also, I have learnt that while doing experiments, we should be focused and not get distracted easily to ensure our own safety. Not only does breaking test tube cause loss to the school, but also it may cut the student hence making it dangerous for the students to handle. Moreover, one has to clear the glass when broken, if one does not handle the glass pieces properly and is not aware of the procedure, it may hurt others, such as throwing glasses into the wrong bin and hence the cleaner may get cuts from the sharp glass pieces, or maybe even when a student from another class comes in and is unaware of the broken glass piece that was left out when cleaning, he or she will get hurt too. Hence from this little injury, I realized that one minor accident and lead to many great consequences thus we should not make the mistakes in the first place to reduce risks of other or even ourself getting injured. This lead to the importance of safety in the lab. We, as students, should be focused and on task when we are in the lab as labs are no joking matter and we should be serious whenever we are doing experiments in the lab as personal safety top the list. Next,  although I was not present for this part but I still have to write it. This is about punctuality and time awareness. According to my classmate, we were too distracted and was late by one minute which resulted in an extra sixty words reflection. From this I learnt that we should not be engrossed in our own conversation and neglect the fact that we should be on task and finish up as fast as possible so that we do not waste our teacher or our own time. Additionally, we are suppose to follow all instructions carefully as we are in the lab, thus we should have not wasted time being distracted so that we use our time efficiently and we also get to learn more things when we still have time. All in all, this reflection, hopefully be our last one, helped me to reflect on our actions during class time.
